Why Beautiful Homes Often Have Dangerous Electrical Systems

We live in an era dominated by rapid technological advancements and consumerism, frequently switching mobile operators and eagerly upgrading to the newest smartphones. Yet, when it comes to home security and electrical installations, our attention surprisingly diminishes. Alarm systems, critical for ensuring home safety and family protection, often remain neglected for decades.

Every day, I receive calls from people experiencing severe issues with their home electrical systems, now in desperate and dangerous conditions. It is not uncommon to see recently renovated homes, aesthetically stunning with designer furniture and sophisticated lighting, but still relying on electrical systems that are over 35 years old. These homes experience frequent power outages, risking not only damage to appliances but, more importantly, the safety of their inhabitants.

Even antenna systems are often neglected. Luckily, today channels can be viewed wirelessly using devices like iPads in the kitchen without needing cables, a long overdue advancement. However, this does not justify neglecting the proper maintenance of traditional antenna systems. Furthermore, it’s important to highlight that using Wi-Fi repeaters improperly—simply repeating an already weak signal—doesn’t improve the quality of the connection, merely boosting its strength and potentially causing further issues.

The scenario becomes even more concerning in condominium settings: antenna systems remain in disrepair, intercom cables run exposed through apartments, causing considerable inconvenience and potential hazards, and stairwells feature open junction boxes with exposed wiring posing real safety threats. Yet again, aesthetic and superficial improvements are prioritized, completely overlooking essential electrical and technological system maintenance.

This inevitably leads to one clear question: what haven’t you understood? Electrical and technological safety is not optional—it is an urgent and indispensable necessity to ensure the safety of residents, properties, and shared spaces. It’s high time to shift our mindset, recognising the critical importance of properly updating and maintaining security and electrical systems with the same diligence applied when selecting our smartphones or telecom operators.
